Surrounded by beautiful Georgian buildings, The Scott Apartment is a typically spacious home in the heart of Edinburgh’s New Town which offers luxurious chic accommodation for anyone visiting the historical city of Edinburgh.

Access to this garden level apartment is down the stairs to the base of Sir Walter’s old house only a few paces away from the lively hub of George Street. As you step off the broad, traditional street you immediately feel sheltered from the lively city you are leaving behind.

You enter into a spacious hallway which once served as the everyday entrance to this famous Georgian house and the modern styling of the apartment is immediately obvious.

Living room

This large room is bathed in light during the day from the bow fronted windows. As with all areas of the apartment, connections with its history are subtle to allow you to enjoy the city as it is today. There is a wall to wall book-case at the end of this large room loaded with interesting reads both old and new, as well as games, art materials, and a radio. Modern comfortable sofa’s offer lots of seating, with deep plush cushions for you to sink into and relax.

At night with the traditional window shutters closed, the soft lighting makes it a relaxing and cosy place to curl up with a good book and a drink. The sofa bed also give more sleeping options for guests with larger families. There is a TV with Digital Freeview, a DVD player with a small choice of DVD’s and an iPod speaker dock. In the window there is a writing desk for those who feel inspired by the surroundings


This recently refurbished room has all modern appliances as well as a plentiful supply of good quality cooking utensils to make sure whatever you feel like cooking whilst you stay here, you won’t need for anything. The large modern dining table provides a place to sit and chat as well as a place to share meal times, assuming you don’t want to enjoy the wonderful restaurants that are close by. The kitchen has modern gas oven and hob, large fridge freezer, microwave, and dishwasher and you will always find tea, coffee and biscuits to welcome you to the apartment.

Through the French doors, the kitchen leads out onto a courtyard patio area with outdoor seating and lighting for al fresco meals or drinks in the evening. Back inside, there is also a good quality washing machine and you are likely to find a good choice of cooking ingredients such as oils, condiments and spices in the cupboards so you don’t have to buy some of the essentials for your stay.

Main Bedroom
The main bedroom is a hidden treasure of the city in itself. The room used to be the safe of the old house, and due to its strong construction, offers a peaceful oasis of calm. The room has a comfortable king size bed that can also be divided into two single beds if preferred.

There are wall to wall wardrobes offering lots of storage, and hidden through one of the doors you find the entrance to the en-suite shower room with large head rain shower and heated floors for those chilly Edinburgh nights.

Bedroom Two

Bedroom two also provides a double bed and a large walk in wardrobe. The modern styling continues with warm colours and soft furnishings. Original deep window shutters on the sash windows give absolute seclusion from the outside world allowing you to escape the city outside the window.


Next to the bedroom is a master bathroom in what was once the old larder for the house. The enormous bath provides a deep soak for those who enjoy it, or the rain shower overhead can give a more refreshing experience. There is also a built-in Digital TV at the foot of the bath so you can enjoy your favourite programs or films whilst recovering from a day shopping or sightseeing around the city.


There is free WiFi throughout the house offering high-speed internet access. All the beds have crisp cotton sheets and the bathrooms have a good supply of fluffy towels. There is also a good supply of blankets and other items to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
